MOORESVILLE, NC (Nov. 30, 2016) – Multiple-time CARS Super Late Model Tour race winner Quin Houff and ARCA Racing Series powerhouse team Mason Mitchell Motorsports announced today they will partner for the ARCA season-opener at Daytona International Speedway in February. The deal is a one-race agreement and a chance for Houff to prove himself on a national stage.

Mason Mitchell Motorsports won the ARCA Racing Series championship in 2014 with its namesake, Mason Mitchell, behind the wheel. Soon thereafter, the team became a highly-sought after group for young drivers who wanted to bolster their careers and have opportunities to win races. As sponsorship and results blossomed, the team worked with multiple young drivers including Noah Gragson, John Wes Townley, ARCA dirt race winner Justin Haley, and last year’s Talladega winner Gus Dean. In total, the team earned six wins in three full-time seasons.

In addition to a their history with young drivers, Mason Mitchell Motorsports will have the guidance of Kevin Reed atop the toolbox for Houff. Reed helped to guide the winner at Daytona last year to victory lane while Mitchell’s team won the next plate race at Talladega. In theory, the teaming of these two entities should mean the competition will have a difficult task ahead of them in trying to beat the Mason Mitchell Motorsports organization at Daytona in February.

“It’s great to have a talented and proven driver like Quin Houff racing for us at Daytona,” Mitchell stated. “He’s done a fantastic job in the late model ranks the last few seasons and has earned this opportunity. We look forward to having success with him at the test and the race at Daytona.”

arca-pr-photo1Quin Houff is yet another capable, young driver who will be piloting a car prepared by Mason Mitchell Motorsports. A year ago, Houff burst onto the scene with a surprise victory in the CARS Super Late Model Tour at Tri-County Motor Speedway in North Carolina, then backed up that performance with a dominant win at the season-opener in 2016. Before parting ways with his former team late in the year, Houff was in the thick of the championship battle all season and still averaged over 20 laps led per event.

“I am beyond excited to get back in a racecar,” exclaimed Houff. “This all started around the time we were left without a ride. We wouldn’t have ended up where we were, had the game plan, or known the ins and outs of the sport if it wasn’t for the help of Performance Marketing Group. They really made us look at whether to focus on the remainder of this season or to start putting our focus on the next and come up with a plan. So, that’s what we did, and I am now fortunate enough to race at Daytona next year, something many dream of doing and it’s definitely a dream come true for me.”

Houff will climb behind the wheel with his new team during the Daytona ARCA test in January, a three-day sanctioned, open practice session where teams dial in their machines and their chemistry with each other. For the first time in his career, Houff will be able to take in restrictor-plate, superspeedway-style racing while having the guidance of Mason Mitchell and his team to help the young driver process everything that is occurring on-track. Mason Mitchell Motorsports won the most recent ARCA restrictor-plate race at Talladega last May.

“I’m going into Daytona being all ears since this is something completely different than I have ever done before with the speeds and the aerodynamics,” said the driver from Weyers Cave, Va. “Luckily, Mason Mitchell Motorsports has a good history at the superspeedways and they have great experience to help me learn along the way. This will definitely be a nerve-wracking and pressure-filled race for me considering this is the only race we have locked in for now in 2017. But at the end of the day, I’m just going to go out there and do what I do to the best of my abilities and leave the rest up to the Lord, and all else will fall into place.”
